Deacon Nick Neagoe The Good Shepherd Newsletter VOLUME XXV SEPTEMBER 2019 A New Year with Health & Blessings On September 1 st, we are entering a new ecclesiastic year. Because this time marks the beginning of a new agricultural year, in the Old Testament prayers for seasonable weather and fertility were said in the Temple. On the first day of the seventh month you shall have a convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It is a day for you to blow the trumpets, and you shall offer a burnt offering, a pleasing odor to the Lord: one young bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish (Numbers 29, 1-2). This was in gratitude to the Almighty Lord, Who feeds us from the ground with all His blessings. Let s not forget that, among all industries, agriculture is the most fundamental for our nourishment and sustenance of life. September 1 st is, therefore, the New Church Year. Let us begin it with a new sense of thanksgiving for God s mercy, for He alone set the times and seasons. Let us give to the Lord what belongs to Him. I am calling each and every Orthodox Christian to rededicate himself to the Lord. God is present among us in His Church! Renew your belonging and offer yourself to God. On September 28-29, our parish will celebrate its 115 th anniversary. I pray that ALL our spiritual children who trace their roots here will be with us on this event and after. At the same time, I am wishing all of you many healthy and blessed years! With love in the Lord. Father Remus Grama An Nou Cu Sănătate și Binecuvântări Pe 1 septembrie, vom intra în anul nou bisericesc. Pentru că este începutul unui nou sezon vegetal, în Templul Vechiului Testament se înălțau rugăciuni pentru vremuri pașnice și pentru roadele pământului. Dreptul Moise a poruncit: În ziua întâi a lunii a șaptea de asemenea să aveți adunare sfântă și nici un lucru să nu lucrați. Pe aceasta să o socotiți o zi a sunatului din trâmbițe. Să aduceți o ardere de tot spre miros bine plăcut Domnului: un vițel, un berbec, șapte miei de un an fără meteahnă (Numeri 29,1-2) împreunate cu laude de recunoștință aduse Atotputernicului Dumnezeu, Cel care ne hrănește din pământ cu toate binecuvântările Sale. Să nu uităm nici o clipă că între toate industriile agricultura este darul fundamental al susținerii vieții. Așadar, 1 septembrie este Anul Nou Bisericesc. Să-l începem cu un sentiment de recunoștință și mulțumire pentru mila lui Dumnezeu, deoarece El a rânduit vremile și anotimpurile. Să-I dăruim lui Dumnezeu ceea ce Îi aparține. Chem pe toți Creștinii Ortodocși să se rededice lui Dumnezeu. El este present între noi în Sfânta Sa Biserică. Să ne înnoim apartenența și să urmăm pe Domnul. În 28-29 septembrie, parohia noastră va serba a 115-a aniversare. Vă invităm cu dragoste pe toți fiii parohiei care au rădăcinile aici să vină cu noi. Cleveland Romanians Celebrate One World Day The FESTIVAL COMMITTEE... is sending their appreciation and thanks to the heads of all the departments for managing a smooth activity during the prepartions made before the festival and during the three days of the festival. The volunteers of all the deparetments (Kitchen, Food lines, Inside & Outside bars, Wine Garden, Pastry, Boutique store, T-shirts sale, Cook-book, Langoshi, Bunica s Attic, Mititei, Cashiers, Mioritza Dance group, Costume Parade, Church & Museum guides, Video displays, Singers, Parking, Cleaning, etc.) did an extraordinary effort during the three days of the festival. We cannot forget the few volunteers who took down and stored for next year everything after the festival. A big THANK YOU ALL!!! COMITETULUI DE FESTIVAL... își transmite aprecierea și mulțumirile către toți liderii de departamente pentru gestionarea unei activități bune în timpul pregătirilor făcute înainte de festival și în cele trei zile ale festivalului. Nu-i putem uita nici pe cei care au ajutat să ia decorațiile jos după festival, și să le depoziteze pentru anul viitor. MULȚUMIM TUTUROR!! This year, the Romanian Garden was LIVE on the local TV station, FOX 8, in the morning show of KIKIN IT WITH KENNY, on Wednesday, August 21st, who gave a preview of One World Day. Mihaela Hetruc & Gheorghe Lateș with a group of friends of the Romanian Garden, dressed up in Romanian costumes sang a patriotic song. Then, on Sunday, August 25th, the Romanian American Forum (CRAO) that gathers Northeast Ohio Romanians participated in the international parade on Martin Luther King Blvd., chaired by Mihaela Hetruc. As each community takes turns to host the event every year, this year s turn belonged to St Helena church (Fr Petru Stanea) in combination with Carpatina Society (Nick Shofar). All churches participated in various ways and degrees. The representatives of The Romanian Cultural Garden (George Cantor and others) were also involved. Also, Romanian Garden was among the few gardens who enrolled on the STORY TELLING, a booth organized by the Gardens Federation. Our garden was represented by Mihaela Hetruc who told to the children and adults participants the STORY OF THE MĂRȚIȘOR. Finally, Maria Bartan donated nationality bracelets for the benefit of the Romanian Garden. Maria, a retired physicist, loves her hobby and impresses all of us with her talent and especially with her generosity. On behalf of St Mary s, many thanks to all our members who participated.
